How to Prepare Murabba of Amla at Home


  • 250g amla (Indian gooseberry)
  • 250g sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
  • 1/8 tsp saffron strands
  • 1/8 tsp citric acid



  • Prick the Amla with a knife in a few places and boil it in a pan with enough water to cover them until they become soft. 
  • Drain the water and let the amla cool down.
  • In a separate pan, add sugar and water and heat until the sugar dissolves completely. Keep stirring occasionally.
  • Add cooked Amlas into the sugar syrup, bring it to a boil and simmer for four to five minutes. Add cardamom powder, saffron strands and citric acid to the pan.
  • Cook the mixture on medium heat until it thickens and becomes sticky. Stir occasionally.
  • Allow it to cool, and store it in an airtight container.
